ST JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.

The quarterly meeting of the committee of the Association, was'held! yesterday afternoon, in.the City Council Library ; present. —His Worship the Mayor (in the chair), Mesdames Milsom and Nashelski, Misses Ph'eney and Willis, Captain Garsia, Messrs J. Connal and S. Manning. Mrs Churchill Julius wrote from .Pareora, regretting her inability to attend. The annual report and balance-sheet for 1900 "were submitted by the Secretary and adopted. It was arranged that the annual meeting and presentation of certificates should take place in the City Council room on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 8 p.m. The Secretary reported that since the beginning of the year nineteen cases had been attended to with the ambulance. Five were accident cases, and fourteen invalid. With reference to the dispute with Wellington Centre and in answer to a letter from the Secretary (Mr Barker), the Governor's Private Secretary wrote under date Jan. 25, as follows I :—"His Excellency has read the communication from the Wellington Centre of the St John Ambulance, and he sees no reason for sending a copy to you prior to Ibis informing the Secretary at St John's Gate of his opinion on the matter. The Secretary of the Wellington Centre has simply stated the case in a fair maimer." On the motion of Captain Garisa and Mrs Milsom, it was resolved unanimously that a, record.of the services of the late Dean Jacobs and the late Mr H. R. Webb should be placed, on the minutes, and that letters of condolence should be sent to MesdanK's Jacobs and Webb. The late Dean Jacobs was one of -life founders of the Association in Canterbury in 1885, and was subsequently appoint-, ed a vice-president. He was- a most earnest and active member, of the committee up to 1896, when failing strength compelled 'his absence from the meetings. The late Mr H. R. Webb w r as a member of committee- for the past ten years, and ai practical supporter of the Asosciation since; its foundation in 1885. Accounts amounting to' £2l 16s 3d were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
