A meeting of 'the Woolston School Oom'-'j niitte was held on. Feb. 4. All members', c.t 'the committee- were present,'and!, .Mr; Cleworth- occupied \the 'chair. Mr Binaie,'! headmaster, reported that all.the pupil---teachers 'had passed their examinations, MissHardy and Mr Garten in. the merit listl; The coiiiiinUee passed a, hearty vote-, of* thank's to the headmaster for his successful* training. The Headmaster reported .that! the average attendance for the past month/ had been 433, and the number on the roll' was 504. '''.'■
A meeting of the St Albans School Committee was held on* Wednesday; Ail the r.: embers were : present. Mr H.j A'Court was in the chair. Messrs Simpsom' and Jowsey were appointed a Works Committee. The Eeadm-asrer reported.that the; schools were opened on Jan. 21 with an at-j tendance of 490 r.t the main school and 111; at the side school. All the pupil-TCachers' passed thir respective examinations, andi each gained a place in the -merit list. The! pupil-teachers • were:—Misses - Harrison,! Greenup, Meikereli and Mr S. ' Clark.« Four schelarshi-ps fell to the lot of pupils! of St Albans,, School, as follows : —■Percy) Kelson,- first for Boys' High. School En-' trance Scholarship; Elsie Carter, first for} ■Girls' High School Entrance Scholarship; 1 William. Bray, second for Board's Junior] SoholaTska-p; William-; Bray, fotinh for ( Christ's'- College- Entrance Scholars-hip. It{ was unanimously resolved to , congratulate the headmaster and staff on these'satisfac-: tory results, more especially with regard to' th-s scholarships, which had been gamed! without the aid 1 of any extra tuition.
A meeting of the Waltham School Committee was held on Saturday evening; pre-' pent—Messrs'J. B. Sim (ehailrm.au), D. G-ow, R. M. Tavl-or, W.' Ktfort, A." Clifford, C. V. Harvey, J. Joll 1 and' W.jWraight. The Headmaster reported thyt! since the school had. resumed the att-nd-' ance had been regular. The .number ad-, mittcd to the iiufan-t department had bera.' fifiv. It was decided to assist, „by pay-, in <r half the fee, pupils who attended Wn-{ dry classes. It was decided to advntise' for applications to, fill a'vacancy" on th* pupil-teacher staff. ... ,
