THE NEW PUBLIC HEALTH ACT.
•At the meeting of -ifte Linwood Borough Council last evening," a -ejrculajs; was read from the Department of Public Health, m regard to the Public Health Act of 1900. It "pointed out the new provisions,, and emphasised the fact that nothing in the new Act was intended to take away, the powers of the local bodies. Each Corporation should have its own Health Officers and Sanitary Inspector, but the Government would provide experts to overlook the work. The Mayor said he was rather afraid the Government, after, rushing into the question of public health, would suffer a> relapse. He thought the Council should urge the Government to appoint their officers at once. Considerable discussion, took place, and finally a resolution was carried urging the Government to appoint a District Health Officer without delay. A copy of the resolution is to be forwarded to the Government.
