The 100yds Championship of Australasia decided at Ballarat, resulted as follows : R. Cavill 1, Craig 2, Champion (New Zealand) 3. Cavill led -throughout. Craig beat Champion by a foot. The time was given as 'lmm 2sec, but could not be accepted, as the timekeepers had to take it fropi the moment the competitors; entered tie. water. In order - to' afford Cavill an opportunity of beating Lane's Australasian fresh-water record, an impromptu race was arranged subsequently. Although tiring towards the finish, Cavill succeeded, the time given officially being lmin 3 l-ssec. Champion finished second to Tucker in the Ballarat Handicap. Dunn, of Ballarat, won the Plunging Championship of Australia. . ; (The previous record established by Lane was lmin 3 2-ssec.)

The Swimming Championship contests we're concluded yesterday. The 220yds resulted as follows: —R. Cavill 1, Oraig (New South Wales) 2, Hogan (Victoria) 3. Won by, a couple, of feet. Time—2min 49isec. Cavill also won the Mile Handicap, beating Rei'd (New' South Wales) as he liked. Time —27 min 56 2-ss'ec. The fin* half-mile was covered in 14mi'n 2~1-ssec.
