BATHING IN THE AVON.

'= TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I have been in the, constant habit of taking some very pleasant walks, by day and evening, round the Park plantations, but during the past week or two i have been ss-, verai times very much’surprised and disgust-, ed at finding myself suddenly in the midst of a mob of nude young men and boys who • had been bathing in l the river, and were using every description’of language but that' of the gods. This took place between the. hours of eleven and twelve o’clock noon last Sunday, on the public footpath in the plantation opposite Mr Gould’s residence, near the Fendalton Bridge. Surely such a disgusting state of things as this ought not to be allowed in a public thoroughfare constantly used by women and children, as well as men. I am informed the Domain Board allow bathing to ■ take place at this spot before the hour of seven ini the morning.

Well, oil I can say as for decency's sake, if the Board permit bathing in such a public place before 7 a .m., the Hast they can do is to take the responsibility of seeing that' no bathing occurs after that hour.—l am, etc.,. PEDESTRIAN. '
