—<? : THE NEW REGULATIONS, [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 10. New regulations 'under the Dairy Industry Act have just been gazetted. They provide foe the registration of all dairies which supply milk for consumption, and for the payment of an annual fee of ss. The air space to be provided for each cow in a dairy byre is 500 cubio feet. The byres shall he washed with lime inside, welllighted and ventilated, and provided with drains or gutters. Provision is also made for the thorough deansiilg' of all dairy buildings and utensiis. The regulations are vexy explicit with regard to the mode of milking cows and the cleansing of ad utensils and premises. Immediately after milking the milk is to be removed from the milking shed, strained and cooled to a temperature of not more than 65 degrees. No person who is suffering from an infectious disease, or who has recently been in contact with such person, shall be permitted to milk a cow or take any part in the distribution of the milk. If any person employed about a farm is attacked 1 by any contagious disease, the occupier of the dairy must immediately give notice to the Inspector, who, if he thinks fit, may order that no milk shall be removed from the dairy. Pigs may not be kept within a distance of fifty yards of any cowshed or dairy buildings. It is illegal for any person to use milk from any but a registered dairy. Breaches of the regulations are punishable by a fine not exceeding £SO.
