CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, March 27. (Before Mr R. Beetham, S-M.)
Maintenance. —John Keaugh was ordered to contribute 6s a week towards the support of his child at Burnham. —Christopher Matheson Hansen was ordered to pay arrears amounting to £4 6s 6d on an order in fafour of his wife within forty-eight hours, in default fourteen days’ imprisonment. City By-laws. —George Robert Fail was charged with leaving a vehicle unattended in High Street for a longer period than five minutes. On the application of Mr White, who appeared for the ■ defendant, the hearing of the case was adjourned for a week. Indigent Children. —Three young children were charged with having no visible means of support. The mother wished them to be sent to the Burnham Industrial'School, as the father had left her, and had not complied with orders made against him,. The Secretary of the Charitable Aid Board said that soma time ago application was made for relief. The Board would pay about 5s rent and give about 6s worth of food. Mrs Cunnington and an officer of the Salvation Army offered to obtain work for the mother. The case was adjourned for a month to ascertain if arrangements could be made so that the children might remain with the mother.
RANGIORA. Tuesday, March 27. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., Mr A. Todd, J.P., and Mr E. R. Good, J.P.) Civil Cases.— W. F. Dobson v: J. P. Murfit, claim £9 ss. Mr Johnston for plaintiff. Judgment by default and costs 23s 6d.— North Canterbury Co-operative Stores Company v. H. M’Gloin, claim £6 8s 4d. Judgment for plaintiffs by default. —T. B. Lane v. Dally, claim £2 7s 6d. Adjourned for a week/—G. Duke (Mr Hill) v. W. Bloomfield (Mr Hehnore), claim £5 10s 6d. The claim was for scutching. Mr Helmore accepted judgment for defendant, but execution was delayed for a week to enable him to. enter a counter claim for damages for alleged imperfect work.
