NAPIER NEWS.

[Per Press Association.] NAPIER, March 221. ’ Mr J. H. Coleman has improved on his previous offer of £SOO towards public baths. He now proposes to defray the whole cost of buildings, providing the central site he indicated is acquired by the Borough Council. The site includes a strip of Government property, adjoining the Supreme Court, and fronting the Marine Parade 1 , and continuation through the Athenaeum property to Herschell Street. The Athenaeum trustees have offered their whole property, including the building and library, to the Council for a public library and technical school if the Council will take over the liabilities, which are less than half the valuation of the property. It is hoped that by combination all three objects will be gained.
