PICNICS.

A large meeting in connection with the tailoring trade was held in Inglis’ Buildings last night to make arrangements for a picnic. The Secretary reported that several of the employers were willing to close their workshops on March 31, and forward donations from 10s upwards. It was decided to hold the picnic at Tai Tami. Tickets can be obtained from Mr Gohhs, the secretary, or from any member of the committee.

There was an animated scene in Cathedral Square yesterday morning, when the children of the East Christchurch School, with their friends, numbering about 1100,- left by the tram for Sumner. Nineteen cars were required to take all the passengers. A pleasant day . was spent in Drew’s paddock, which had been kindly'lent for the occasion. Sports were also taken part in on the beach.
