THE REV CHARLES CLARK.

The Choral Hall was crowded last night, when the Rev Charles Clark gave a lecture on “The Tower of London.” The lecture was anything but a bare description of the Tower as a fortress, a palace and u. prison. The lecturer drew the merest outline of the various buildings which make the Tower itself, but he gave a most interesting lecture on many historical events in connection with the venerable pile, datinv back, as it does, to at least the time of Julius Ccesar. The story of the persecution of Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir Thomas More, Lady Jane Grey, and others, was graphically told, and Mr Clark recited “ Clarence’s Dream” in a masterly manner. The lecture, though graphic and strong, was relieved by much humour. At the conclusion Mr Clark gave a splendid patriotic peroration, which was enthusiastically received by those present. This evening Mr Clark will present his second Dickens entertainment.
