THE DRINK DISEASE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I notice that our unfortunate sister, “Mary M’Kegney,” is in trouble again. Three months’ hard.. I wonder how many times she, and a few. more of a similar character, have been sentenced for drunkenness? Is there no law to stop these women from making themselves nuisances to society? Could not the police take out prohibition orders against them after, -say, three convictions? This question has been asked several times in your paper, but no one seems to take any notice of it. It has been said that there are many in Sunnyside who ought not to be there, but in my humble oyunion there are some outside who would be better there than being constantly in and out of gaol.—l am, etc., TRY PROHIBITION.
