When play was resumed this morning the weather was warm but overcast, and the wicket was in good order. The attendance was small. Trulnble and Jones were bowled with successive balls. Noble was over three hours at the "wickets without giving a chance. The first innings of the Australians closed for 375 runs. The second innings of the Englishmen produced 222 runs. Trumble dismissed Fry by a fine catch in the slips. The departing batsman made all his runs off one over of Jones’s. Abel fell an easy victim to Trumble. Jessop had a let-off from Hill, Who missed him in the long field. The first wicket fell at 15 runs and the third at 46. Hayward’s left stump was levelled in Noble’s first over. Grace escaped being run out through a bad, return by Gregory. The partnership of Rairjiteinhji and Grace produced 78 runs, and practically saved, the game. Ranjitsinhji played brilliant cricket. His score included ten fours. He was •caught rather easily at point. ’ Trumble displaced M’Leod at 132. He bowled steadily, but runs came fast off Noble, and Jones resumed the ball at 150.
