British Columbia, offers a guarantee of two-eighteenths beyond Canada’s contribution towards the cost of the Pacific cable.. Sir Sandford Fleming considers that Great Britain’s recession is a fatal blow to the schema of State-owned British cables, and a grave retrograde step in the Imperial mpvement. . ’ ’ ’ LONDON, May 6. The “Times” says that a great Imperial undertaking such as the Pacific cable ought to be treated in a broader manner and more generously.
