A RANK MYSTERY.
DISAPPEARANCE OF MONET, [Per Press Association.]
[Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 29. The sum of £930 in notes disappeared from the till of the Newton branch of the National Bank-of New Zealand between twelve and two o’clock yesterday. The whole affair is a mystery. The notes stolen are :£235 ,in one pound notes, d>los in fives. £270 in reps, £220 in txventies, and £IOO in fifties. Mr Alexander, who is in charge of the bank, states that be was not absent from the chunter where the money is kept during business hours. He knows -that the money was in the till at twelve o’clock, and he missed it at two. He immediately communicated with head-quarters and the police. Mr Alexander is at a loss to understand how the money could have been extracted without his knowledge.
