The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court commenced to-day before the Chief Justice. Thera were eight cases on the criminal calendar, and in all, save one, true bills were found. Duncan Calvert Monteeth, an did offender, was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment for forgery. ' Thomas Hunt pleaded guilty to theft,'and was admitted to probation. A Native named Te Rangi was found not guilty on'a charge of wilful damage to stock, and Thams Hughes, who pleaded guilty to breaking and entering, was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment.
