LEAGUE OP NEW ZEALAND WHEELMEN. A meeting of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen executive was held iu the Occidental Hotel last evening; present— Messrs W. E. Thompson (chairman), W. G. Atack, J. H. Tompkins, C. H. Cotton, A. R. Kirk, W. G. Williams and G. Milne. Three ex-members of the Timaru Tourists’ Club were granted League licenses. The following permits were granted:—lnvercargill Cash Club, Easter Monday; Riverton, April 12 ; Okato, April 7 ; Oam am Hibernian Society, April 11. A report from the consul at Auckland, in regard! to alleged boring at a recent meeting, was received. The Auckland Cycling Club drew attention to the manner, in which, the Press Association neglected to report many events of great interest to cyclists all over the colony. It was decided to endorse the opinion expressed by the Club, and to write to the Association oh tho matter. The Secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Cycling Club protested against the executive’s action in refusing to confirm its affiliation. The letter was - received. The Wanganui Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club applied for affiliation. Mr H. R. Woon, secretary of the League Club at present in existence in Wanganui,: appeared to protest against the granting of the affiliation, on the ground that there, was not room for two League clubs in the town, and the amateur club would, by reason of its influence with the Board of Control of Cook’s Gardens, have such an advantage over the old cash dub as would eventually lead to that body ceasjng to exist. Mr D. Ryan was also present, and represented the case for affiliation On behalf of the amateur club. Mr Tompkins moved, and Mr Adams seconded, that the application should be refused. Mri Cotton moved as an amendment, that the application should be . granted conditionally on the constitution of the dub remaining as at present, and that the Board of Control’s terms should bo the same for both dubs. Mr A. R.‘ Kirk seconded the amendment. At a late stage of the discussion, a telegram was handed in from Wanganui, stating that the club would accept an unconditional affiliation or none at all. The amendment was accordingly withdrawn and the motion was carried. This dosed the business.
