CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, March 26. (Before Mr R. Beetham, S.M.)
Alleged Theft. —Margaret Smyth wa • charged with stealing an overcoat in Davis’ Lane, value <£l, the property of James O’Brien. Mr Donnelly appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence, Mr Beetham dismissed the charge. Obscene Language. — George Gedder pleaded not guilty to using obscene language in Davis’ Lane. Elizabeth Smyth also pleaded not guilty to a charge of obscene language and drunkenness. The charges were dismissed.
LYTTELTON. Saturday, March 26. (Before Mr J. Hamilton, J.P.) Alleged Criminal Assault. Martin Hansen, who had only been arrested that morning, -was charged with having committed a criminal assault on a child of tender years, and on the application of the police was remanded until April 4. (Before Mr J. Hamilton, J.P., and Mr W. Cook, J.P.)
Cases Dismissed. Daniel Bremford ■was charged with damaging a water tap and trough. The case was dismissed; as was also a case against Albert Eeed for damaging a fence. Education Act. —The parents of John and Cissy Vidulech and Ethel Seymour wore each fined 2s and costs for not sending their children regularly to school.
