At the inquiry into the recent disastrons fire, a witness stated that he saw «v. gentleman leave the rear of Messrs Craig and Williamson’s premises in a hurry at ten o’clock on the night of the fire. Thefirm is unable to throw any light on this statement. FEDERAL CONVENTION. The Federal Convention has adopted the Federal Bill. The final sitting takes place to-day. Eeoeived March IS, 1 a.m. At the Federal Convention, Mr Barton lengthily reviewed the Bill. Sir George Turner, who was absent, telegraphed saying he would carefully consider the Bill and see if he could with justice recommend it to the people, bub he did not altogether like the measure. Sir E. Braddon and Mr Brunker announced that they wouldrecommend it to their respective colonies. OBITUARY. ADELAIDE. Maech 17. Colonel Horatio Williams, who served in the New Zealand Maori war, is dead.
