VAGRANCY.
TO THE EDITOE,
g IR On looking over your columns this morning X noticed a case against an old man whom you describe as a feeble old man, sent to gaol for two months, the Bench observing that it was to be regretted that there was no suitable place to which to send such oases. I always understood the gaol as a place for criminals, and if feeble age is a crime punishable with two months, or about what a felon
would get, then the sooner our civilisation, reverts to barbarism, and allows those wli6, J through age and infirmity, - are unable to support themselves, to .be,left by the wayside to die in peace, the better. —I am, &c.,
