CANTERBURY AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

SECOND DAY,

There was a good attendance at Lancaster Park on Saturday afternoon, the number of ladies being particularly large. Mr D. Wood proved thoroughly efficient with the venerable weapon that did duty for a : pistol, and the starts were all good. The performance. of F. S. Harley (12yds behind scr) in the 120yds Hurdle Race in IS? see was very creditable, as was also E. A. Neave’s 2Ssec in the 250yds Plat. High jumping here has always been so much below the. Home form that it is a thousand pities that P. J'. Brown’s fine performance of sft sfin,-which beat the standard by Jin, was not acb ievedin the actual contest. - The Two-milo Walk Handicap produced a most exciting struggle between Stubberfield and A. C. N eave, and a verdict by seven inches is far from frequent in this class of competition. F. S. Harley’s Quarter-mile Hurdles, only two-fifth of a second over the standard, was another first-class performance. M. J. Lynskey (60yds), who annexed the Half-mile in Imin showed good form and staying power. The College team deserved its victory in the Relay Race, each member displaying the greatest determination. F. S. Harley well deserved the championship of the clnb with his seven points, H. Garsia being second with four points. F. S. Harley also holds the Ladies’ Challenge Cup for one year. The Stanmore Band again enlivened the meeting, and its music was much appreciated. The following are the results: —
