AUSTRALIANS v, LANCASHIRE, [Per Press Association.] LONDON, August 27. The Australians began their retarn match with Lancashire at Liverpool, today. The county team is as follows:—* Smith, Steel, Sugg, Briggs, Tyldesley, Ha,lla.m. Mold, Baker, Bard&well, M'Laren and Ward. The weather was unfavourable, and the attendance small. The wicket was heavy. .. Eady, Graham and Johns were left out-of the colonial team. The Australians were all out for 124.

The chief scorers in the Australian first? wereDonnan 25, Iredale 12, Gregory 22 and Hill 22. Briggs took seven wickets for 63 runs, and Hallanx three for 55, Baker none for 6. Tie Lancashire team .also found the wicket a difficult one to score on, and wera all out for 62, or just , half that of their opponents. M’Laren, the local skipper, who put on 28, was the only one on his side to reach double figures, Donnan and Gregory batted very steadily, and were associated for an hour. MTjascea, too, played a fine innings, and Mssocre included one 6, The wicket, of course, greatly assisted the bowlers, and MTEQbbin, v who got on tremendous work,, performed, he “hat trick.” The analysis was>— M’Kibbin six wickets for 27 runs, and Trumble four for 34. One extra was scored on each side.
