THE DONGOLA EXPEDITION.
USE OF THE RESERVE FUND. A FRENCH AND RUSSIAN PROTEST. [Per Press Association.] CAIRO, March 27. The majority of the Commissioners who have control of the Egyptian Caisse De La Deitte voted a grant for the expedition. The representatives of France and Russia protested that this action was illegal, and then retired. , General Kitchener remains at Akasheh until the railway is completed to, that point. The camels and cavalry will advance to Surada, where a body of a thousand dervishes is reported to have appeared. LONDON, March 27. The Paris syndicate of bondholders has summoned the Caisse and the Egyptian Government to appear before the mixed tribunals, as hitherto the majority has always decided on the disposition of the reserves. It is expected that this attempt at a protest will have no result. March 28. Canada has offered to send acavalry regiment to join the Soudaa expedition.
