POLITICAL.

[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, March 27. Mr E. Lawry, M.H.R., addressed the electors of Parnell to-night. Speaking of the administration of the present Government, of which he was a supporter,. he acknowledged that they had made mistakes, but they had made fewer mistakes than the previous Government. He maintained that the election of Mr Lewis for Christchurch was in reality a victory for the Government, as Mr Lewis’s views on the laud rpiostion were so entirely in accordance with those of the Government that he could not consistently follow Captain Russell. Speaking of the recent changes in the Cabinet he eulogised Mr Thompson, but confessed that he could not understand the appointment of Mr Hall-Jones, who was a follower of Sir Robert Stout, and he considered it was the result of the Christchurch election. Ho strongly disapproved of Ministers interfering with elections as they had done in Christchurch. On the motion of Mr Isaac Hall a vote of thauks was accorded to Mr Lawry for his address, and continued confidence in him as the representative of the electorate.
