SOUTH CANTERBURY v. A CANTERBURY ELEVEN. [Peh Press Association.! GERALDINE, Mauch 27. The cricket match, Canterbury v.. South. Canterbury, was begun to-day in the Geraldine Domain. After four days’ rain, the weather cleared this morning. The' pitch was passable under the circumstances, though somewhat heavy. The South Canterbury team was not fully represented, Beckett, Dart and Grey being absent. Canterbury had a weak team) 1 Lawrence, Cuff and other picked mop not being present. North captained Can-' terbury and Sugden South Canterbury., The latter won the toss and decided to bat, sending Hislop and Jefferson to face the bowling of Malone and North. The innings closed for 189. The visitors sent; in Wigley and Marshall to the bowling-of Macintosh and Pocknall. With his score at 2Q, Jefferson caught Wigley beautifully after a long rim. Ivitto, at cover point, took Marshall—a splendid catch. Canterbury’s innings closed with 126, North' carrying out his bat for 33. There waa?a fair attendance of the public during the day. The match became interesting near the finish, MTntosh making a nice catch to wind up. Scores—
