THE BLAND HOLT DRAMATIC SEASON.
That Mr Bland Holt and his Company, which will commence a season of twelve nights in Christchurch on Monday will meet with a cordial reception seems assured, and everything promises for a highly successful season. The Company will play a two nights’ season in Timaru, commencing to-night, and will leave for Christchurch after the performance tomorrow, by the s.s. Brunner, which is being kept back for their convenience,' and should arrive here early on Sunday morning. The scenery and necessary accessories for the opening piece have been sent on ahead, and will be complete on the Company’s arrival. Of all Mr Holt’s recent productions The Span of Life, which is to he the opening piece, has proved the most successful from a financial point of view. It ran seven and ahalf weeks to splendid business both in Sydney and Melbourne, the many stirring situations, and scenic and mechanical effects making it an unfailing source of attraction. The two sensations of the pieco are the lighthouse scene, with a ship running on to the Coffin Eocke, and the climax in the fourth act, in which the Leonard Brothers perform the acrobatic feat of falling across a chasm, and thus forming what is called the bridge of human bodies. The story, which is from the pen of Sutton Vane, is said to be interesting throughout, and one which the audience follows with the utmost attention.
