HOESE SALES. The business at; Tattersall’s on Saturday was of the most meagre. description. The entry consisted of some 57 horses, the bulk of which were dealers’ lots of the usual varied descriptions. There were one or two really good heavy draughts, but owners were not prepared to accept the prices offered for them. With the rise in the price of oats, and the scarcity of grass, it is not surprising that nobody will buy horses unless they have an immediate use for them, and therefore speculation is dead. Only a few animals were disposed of at the following prices:;—Draughts from £9 to .£l4, fair hacks and light harness horses from £8 to .£l2, and weedy and aged sorts from £1 to £5.

i PIGS AND POULTEY. There was a medium attendance at the weekly sales of pigs and poultry on Saturday. The entry of pigs was fairly good, and the quality showed a slight improvement on late entries, and there was a corresponding improvement in the demand. Poultry were fairly represented,. Some very good birda came forward and met a fair sale. The following are prices realised : —Pigs—Baeoners 20s to 28s 6d, porkora 14s to 18s 6d, good stores 6s to lls, and weaners 3s Gd to 6s 6d. PoultryHeavy roosters 3a to 3s 9d, light do 2s to 2s lOd, pullets 2a 3d to 3s, hens Is 9d to 2s 6d, duoks 2s 6d to 4a 3d, geese 4s to 4a 6d, turkeys 6s to 12s, all at per pair. LBESTON. On Friday last, at the Leeston fortnightly stock sale, the entry comprised 1100 sheep, 40 head of cattle and 250 pigs. The competition for sheep was good. Pat two-tooths realised 13s, fat ewes up to 10s, store lambs from 4s 6d to 7a 3d. Store two-tooths averaged about 9s. Springers up to £7 2a 6d and fat cattle well up to recent Addington rates. Pat pigs sold at prices about on a par with recent values, Jgit.stores wero unusually alow of sale.
