MEDICAL FEES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —Your leaderette puts it very fairly regarding doctors’ fees. Whilst we hear of heavy fees—generally taken from people who can well afford to give them—it is alap juet to remember the many cases of doctors attending poor people without any feo or reward, thus one class paying for the other. The medical profession in this respsot compares very favourably with another one, viz., lawyers, who live upon the scandals, crimes and trials incidental to humanity. Attention has been directed in Melbourne by Supreme Court judges to cases being spun out by counsel engaged, for no other object but to obtain the refreshers derivable from their respective clients. Then for writing a letter of a few words, or five minutes’ advice, a fee of 10s 6d is demanded, more than a Christchurch unemployed will earn in a week for the support of a wife and family.—l am, &c., * WAR AT AH.
