Mr M’Bride states that as an outcome of the inquiry held on Friday last by the Auckland Trotting Club, ho has instructed his solicitor to take proceedings against tho club for defamation of character. He also intends, ho say a, claiming damages from the club for lose incurred through the disqualification of his horses on the second day. In connection with the first day’a racing Mr M’Bride ban given the club notice not to pay the first money’to Mr Edwards, owner of Three Cheers, for that horse’s victory in the Easter Handicap, as Mr Edwards, it is alleged, has boon disqualified for a period of one month dating from May 1 by the Canterbury Metropolitan Trotting Association. On this ground Mr M’Bride claims tho first money for bio horse Duke 0, which was second. Mr W. Bloomfield has written to the Stewards of the Auckland Trotting Club asking for the Secretary to inquire into the charge of a ticket having been rung on the totalizator on Minnie, winner of the Maiden Trot at Epsom on Saturday, after the horses had started. It was agreed to hold an inquiry on Friday night next, and Press representatives are to be asked to bo present.
