THE NATIVE TROUBLE.

[Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Mat 13. The Hon J. Csrtoll has returned to Auckland from Whakatane, having concluded his business with the Uriwera Natives at Euatoki. He says that he does not anticipate further trouble with the Natives respecting the survey, excepting possibly on the part of soma of the younger and more turbulent men, who might protest in somo way against further survey. When Mr Carroll left Galatea there were seventy-oao men there ready to start on road work, and others were to arrive. Eoad work from Galatea to Euatoki, and from Gisborne to Galatea, will be continued during the greater part of the winter, should the weather prove favourable. Application has been made by one hundred and fifty Natives of the Puhoa and Ngahinanawa tribes for work on the roads, and work has been promised in alternate sections with the Europeans as far as practicable. Mr Carroll leaves for Gisborne to-morrow, and then goes on to Wellington.
