OBITUARY.
[Pee, PeesS Association.) WELLINGTON, Mat l£. The death is announced of Mr Edwin Bannister, who came to the colony with the pioneers of the Wellington settlement in 1840. He took a prominent part in connection with the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, end was for a considerable time secretary to one of the principal lodges here. , ■ The death of Dr.Eoberfc Fish, of Geraldine, took place on Sunday evening last. He was taken ill ,on Thursday and on Friday his illness was cfao serious a nature that four doctors were attending him. Oa the afternoon c£ that day he became unconscious, remaining in that condition till his death. Ha was an old resident in the district, and was much esteemed by all classes of the community. For inhhy years past he had taken au active part in connection with the local institutions, and was churchwarden and one of the lay readers at St Mary’s Anglican Church. Hia funeral, which will take place to-day, will bo followed by the members of the Victoria Lodge of Oddfellows, A.C., of which he had been Lodge doctor since its establiohment in the township, and also by the Geraldine Lodge of ■'Freemasons,-: of which also ho was a member. The sympathy of the whole district is extended to his widow and family.
