HORSE SALES. The horse sales on Saturday ware well attended, , but buyers were exceedingly scarce and salesmen had a most unsatisfactory time, lot after lot being passed without evoking a bid. At this time of the year when feed is scarce everybody who has surplus stock is anxious to got rid of it, and nobody who can do without a horse will purchase one. The entry at Tattarsall’a comprised about eighty horses, Thera was an entire absence of good draughts, which alone are in demand, and the majority of the lighter sorts were either second-rate animals or dealers’ lots, and not a quarter of the entry changed hands. Inferior sorts of heavy draughts brought up to £ll, lighter sorts from £5 to £9 10a, light harness horses from £5 to .£lO sa, good hacks from £7 to £9 and aged and weedy sorts from £1 10s to £3, PIG AND POULTRY SALES. Entries were not eo large as usual in any of the classes at the weekly sales of pigs and poultry on Saturday, and though there was a fair attendance sales throughout dragged considerably. There were no bacon pigs on offer, and very few porkers, the yarding consisting principally of small stores, for which the demand was only moderate. The fowls showed very little qualify, tho majority of tho table birds being small and but half fat, and the hens were of mixed breeds. There were no buyers for export, and this' had the effect of causing a dull sale. Ducks were scarce, and there were very few really good ones on offer. Soma good turkeys met fair competition, but tho geeso were an inferior lot, end were hard to sell. Prices realised were as follow: Pigs—Light porkers 16s 6d to 21s 6d, medium stores 10s Gd to 13s 6d, smaller sorts from 3s 6d to 8s 6cl; poultry—turkeys 6s 6d to 18s, gesso 4s Gd to Sa, ducks 2a 3d to 3s 6d, best roosters 2a 6d to 3s, secondary sorts Is to 2s, best pullets 2s to 3s, smaller sorts Is to la 9d, hens la 3d to 2s 6d, according to quality, all at per pair.
