Mr A. H. Waddlo, lata diamond drill expert at the Grand Junction mine, Waiiii, has discovered a well-defined reef in the .Urewera country, between Euatoki and Galatea, in good sandstone country. Specimens have been sent to the Government for assay. At the City Council last night, a letter was received asking for an extension of fcho Tramway Company’s lease. The company would probably take over the lines, establish electric traction and electric lighting, and extend the tram system to Parnell and Onehunga. The cost of electric traction alone would be .£90,000. The Commissioners appointed to take evidence as to the validity or otherwise oS the M’Arthur-Porest gold-saving patents, is taking evidence here. So far witnesses have been examined to show that cyanide was used for the extraction of gold from the quartz matrix prior to the issue of patents to M'Arthur and Forest on Nov. 28,1888.
