The monthly meeting of the Wcodond School Committeo was held oa Monday evening ; present Messrs Chambers (chair'men), Little, Judson, Brown, Gibbs and Horn.?., Au apology for ab-:once was received from Mr Burnett. Tho ordinary monthly meeting of the Addington School Committee was held ia tha schoolroom on Wednesday evening; present—-Messrs Bowden (chairman), Bell, Brown, Caller, Freeborn, I’Anson, Mooro and Woods. The consideration of the circular from tho Canterbury Progressive Liberal Association relative to the election of tbe Board of Governors was deferred until .next meeting. The Chairman explained that, ia consequence of bar illness. Miss Currie had resigned her position as infant mistress, and that a new mistress had been advertised for. The committee expressed its sympathy with Miss Currie in her illness, and regretted tha circumstances compelling her to resign. A letter was read from tha St Albans School Committee in reference to the present system of arranging for scholarship competitions. It was decided to fully endorse tbe opinion of the St Albans committee on tbe matter. The head-master reported that the number on tho roll was 403, average attendance 349, and the highest atleodanco 385. It waa resolved to apply to the Board tor agoistanco in improving tho footpaths leading to the school. Permission was granted to tho Eer B. H.
