[eeoh our special correspondent.} WHAKAEEWAEEWA, May 9. The unemployed arrived at To Whaiti, and encamped twelve miles on the Utawera aide of Galatea. The Hon J. Carroll consulted the Patahnehea people, who promised to supply sixty Natives to assist Mr Webb, the road surveyor, to lay oil the - road. As the result of letters written by Mr Carroll from Eustokl, no opposition was offered. Mr H. M. Wilson, surveyor, is superintending the details. A special meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Workers’ Union was held at the head office, Waimate, on Wednesday evening. The President occupied the chair. Correspondence was dealt with from Camara, Timsru, Temufca, Keiboura, Winton and Tapanui on matters relating to the lata conference. The Government Registrar wrote, stating that when the branches were registered the general body could get registered as an Association representing the whole Of the Union. Mr O’Brien stated that he had written to all the secretaries on the subject. Letters were also read from the Government Labour Department regarding the alternate scheme for dealing with the unemployed difficulty; from. Oreswick and Wagga, Australis, on shearing matters; from the Dunedin Democratic League, stating that its agent would shortly deliver an address on the aims of Socialism and the currency question; from Hawke's Bay, recommending a person na Maori organiser. It waa decided that an Inland Patea branch should be formed, with office at Moawhanga. After passing a small account for payment, the meeting ended.
