WELLINGTON CLUB’S AUTUMN MEETING. [FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. March 2. The Wellington Amateur Athletic Club held its thirteenth annual autumn sports meeting on the Basin Reserve this afternoon in the presence of about 1500 people. The heavy rain on Friday night made the grass track rather heavy, and a northerly wind, accompanied by occasional light showers, blew across the ground during the progress of the sports. J. Moir, P. J, Brown, P. S. Harley and C. F. Smith, members of the Canterbury representative team at the Championship Meeting, competed in some of the events, and the first-named two won the 120yds Hurdle Scratch Race and High Jump Handicap respectively. O- MacCormick, holder of the Now Zealand amateur record for throwing the hammer, threw the IGlb missile 106 ft lOlin, thus beating his previous beat performance by 6ft 73 in. Time—2osec. 120yda Scratch Hurdles (standard 17aec) —J. Moir (Canterbury) 1; R. Gore (Wel-_ lington) 2; C. Gore (Wellington) 3. S. Harley (Canterbury) and W. H. bull (Wellington) also started. This race was run twice owing to Harley and C. Gore starting before the pistol went off. The two Canterbury men, Moir and Harley, finished first and second in the first” race, the time being given as 16|sec. The five competitors went out a second time and got away in even line at the crack of the pistol. Harley struck the fourth hurdle heavily and fell. Moir jumped in hotter stylo than the others and won easily by three yards, a foot between second and third. Time—l7-Jaec. 75yds Flat Handicap (standard Bsec) W. A. Peatman 9yds, 1; C. H. Baker 9yds, 3; G. B, Lusk syde, 3. Won by a toot. Time—Bsec.

Five-mile Roadster Bicycle Championship—F. B. Muir 1, L. T. Herbert 2, H. G. Smith 3. J. O. Shetland (Christchurch), F. Fabian, A. E. Hunt and W. Chegwiddea also started. Shorland led for three miles, when he was passed by Smith, who led for two laps. Shorland again took the lead in the fourth mile, but was passed by the three placed men in the final lap. Muir won by three yards; two yards between second and third; Shorland fourth. Time—l6min 23|sec.

One-mile Flat Handicap (standard 4min 45aec) —H. G. Anderson 15yds, 1; P. Clark 10yds 2; S. P. Hawthorne 35yds, 3. Won by six inches. Time—4min 45 1 sec. One-mile Walk Handicap (standard 7min 20sec)—W. Talbot scr, 1;A. J. Patrick 100yds, 2. Won by three-quarters of a lap. Time-—7min 44-Jaec. 250yds Plat Haddicap (standard 27sec)— F. H. The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club considered the disqualification of Martin and Eoberts in the 440yda Hurdles at the late championship meeting, and resolved " That immediate notice be given to the Now Zealand Athletic Association of appeal against the decision given in the Quarter-mile Hurdle race; that the local officer be requested to procure the namo of the member who lodged the protest, to ascertain if the protest was lodged in accordance with the rules, who decided tie protest, and-an accurate copy of the evidence taken; also, that pending the Association’s decision the number of points gained by the club be not worked on the Association banner.”
