THE MELANESIAN MISSION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —While listening to the good work being done by this mission, I could not help asking myself is the Bisuop teaching the poor savages that strong drink is a good creature of God, and to take it in moderation. If so, I say would it not be better to leave them in their wild state than to bring them to the light of Christianity and then put temptation in their way, and cause"them'to undo all the good work that is being done ? Perhaps Bishop Julius can enlighten me on this.—l am, &c., *CLAEA TOOP.
