POLICE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— Seeing a letter signed “ Resident” in your issue of Feb. 25, I wish to contradict his statement with regard to the free fight. The youth of sixteen summers is at least twenty-two years, and was not intoxicated. He was the cause of the disturbance, as he insulted his opponent. There were not two attacking the youth, but one of fcho youth’s own ago. Ha had a perfect right in doing what he did. If “ Resident ” wanted the police, he had not very far to go for him; but there was no need of it.—l am, &c., AN EYE-WITNESS. West Oxford, Feb. 28.
