FRUIT CULTURE.
[Per Press Association.! DUNEDIN, March £ Signor Brogato, the Victorian Government viticulturist, and Mr Blackmora, Government pomologist, returned to town to-night from Central Otago, and leave for the north to-morrow. Signor Brogato is greatly impressed with .the capabilities of the district for fruit-growing, the soil being exceptionally suited at Clyde to growing vines for making wine from grapes. Other parts are suited for stone fruit. Signor Brogato thinks that the district should be developed by railway extension, and that the Government should establish a farm where technical educstion in fruit and vine culture could be given. Some portions of the district are the finest hp has ever seen for growing .walnuts,: & highly profitable industry.
