SAVE ME FROM MY FRIENDS.

TO THE EDITOR. have taken great interest in^ the correspondence under the above heading, and am sorry that Mr Taylor has been unable either to substantiate his case or to demolish the facts advanced by "Didymus,” “Jason” and J. A. Thon. The very gratifying testimonials to the character of Mr G. J. Smith, which must be taken as strictly merited, rather serve to accentuate the moral lesson to be derived from this correspondence; for they only sexve to show that the most moral, the most religious and the most straightforward of men will, if he be a prohibitionist, throw over bis party, his straightforwardness and the interests of the country generally merely to advance his one fad. Electors will do well to bear this in mind next year, and to distrust all professions of the designing prohibitionist. —I am, &c„ - *JABYEY.
