JURYMEN.
TO THE EDITOR. Sie,—lt has been said in your columns that jurymen get badly paid for their work. Well, no doubt they do not get much for their time and trouble, bub I am not sure that they are worth the little they do get. Take the recent shooting cases mentioned in your “ Snapshots ” by “ Flaneur,” where the cases were perfectly clear, some of whom should at leant have got a term of imprisonment to show them that they cannot kill with impunity, and compare the verdicts of “ not guilty ” in comparison to the case of Louis Chemis, where the case was full of doubts and where in fact the majority of people believed, and still believe, him innocent of the crime imputed to him. After such verdicts I have come to the conclusion
that it is high time jurymen were abolished. They are no doubt very useful for g nil tv men, but God help the innocent, -lam, &0.. ABOLITION.
