UNITED METHODIST FREE CHURCHES.

ANNUAL DISTRICT MEETING. The meeting resumed at9a.m» yes* terday. A latter was read from the Christchurch Prohibition League, asking that a deputation from it might be received by the meeting. ‘ It was agreed to receive a deputation on Friday, at 11.30 a.m,, the Rev A. Peters, of Auckland, and Mr J. A. Flesher being chosen to respond on behalf of the meeting. Several offers for service as- ministers were then considered, some being declined and that of the Rev S. Potts, formerly connected with the Free Methodist Churches in England, being entertained. The remainder of tho session was occupied with the consideration of the Examiner’s report and the oral examination of the ministers undergoing probation— Revs A. W. Ashcroft, J. Benning and J. W. Griffin. The oral examination was conducted by the Rev J. Hosking. The examination was not completed at the close of the afternoon session, and will be continued during to-day. This evening at 6.80 there will- be a public tee at the St Asaph Street CHuroh, and it will be followed at 7.45 by a sacred concert. A number of solos will be;given, after which Pattison’s cantata The New Jerusalem will be rendered by the united choirs of the Christchurch Free Methodist Churches, assisted by other friends and an efficient orchestra, numbering .in ' all upwards of one hundred performers.
