POLITICAL.
THE HON J M’KENZIE AT PALMERSTON. [Per Press Association.! DUNEDIN, Feb. 27. The Hon J- M’Kenzie addressed a meeting of his constituents at Palmerston last night, when a vote of thanks and confidence, and confidence in the Ministry, was passed. The speech was on the lines ‘of the recent one m Dunedin. Ha said that as to " spoils to the victors/’ it could not he said he had dismissed a single officer for the sake of filling hia position, and no one could truthfully assert he had put a round man in a square hole. Since the Treasurer had spoken another month’s revenue had come in, and this went to show that the forecast made by the Treasurer would be more than fulfilled. The little band crying out for the Otago Central Railway were political highwaymen who said, "The railway or your lives.”
