ROAD BOARDS

MOUNT PEEL. Tho monthly meeting of this Board was held on Jan. 18; present—Messrs C. G. Tripp, E. Thew, E. Mackay and Q. J. Dermiatoun. In tha absence of the Hon J. E. A. A eland, Mr Tripp was voted to the chair. Correspondence of the usual routine character wua dealt with. It was resolved to recleposit, for twelve months, tho fixed deposits, about falling due, in the sums of £SOOO, .£350 and £250. The Clerk and Overseer were instructed to carry out the following works:—Repair stock bridge at Clayton and erect wing fenca on south side of same; strut and repair all traffic bridges requiring same in the Eainciiff district; clear all over hanging scrub on Peel Forest Eoad; cart a few loads of boulders on the low side of the ford, at Tripp’s Cutting; report at next meeting as to tho necessity of painting or tarring bridges ; report on the state o? Manzu s’ Ford and the best means of improving sum l ?; to s m Mr Banks and arrange to have the wing fence on the cast 1 side of Opihi stock bridge improved. Mr Thew reported that he, with the Clerk and Overseer, had made athorough inspection of the Lynn Ford and protection works, and was satisfied that the system of protecting the banks with wire crates filled with boulders is the beat and cheapest to adopt for the present. Accounts amounting to £39 13s Id were passed for payment and the meeting closed.
