[Special to Peess Association.] SYDNEY, Jan. 25. The intercolonial cricket match. New South Wales v. Victoria, was begun today, the wicket being in good order. The visitors batted first, and knocked up 181 runs, of which Stuckey contributed 28, Graham 23, Harry '27, C. M’Lood 31, and Blackham 23. M’Kibbin took five wicketa for 36 runs. Turner three for 48, Callaway one for 35. The home team has scored 54 without the loss of a wicket, Iredale not out 38, Garrett not out 2S. AUCKLAND v. PUL [Pee Peess Association.! AUCKLAND, Jan, 25. The cricket match Auckland v. Fiji was commenced to-day under favourable circumstances. There was a fairly large attendance. The Auckland captain won the toaa and decided to go to the wickets. Mills and Williams, the two first men, made a fine stand, the latter nob being dismissed till the score was 110. He played a fine innings for 82 runs. With the score at 115, the next three wickets fell in succession. Hay and Wright here made a good stand, and brought the score up to 170 before the former was caught by one of the Fijians. After some steady play the sixth wicket fell for 187. Wynyardand Wright hero formed a partnership which brought the score up to 311, when the stumps were diawn for the day. The fielding of the visitors, especially the Europeans, was very creditable, and Kadavu Levu. made a brilliant catch and howled successfully. A match was played at Hagley Park yesterday between the Hairdressers and Grocers, resulting iu a win for the Hairdressers by 13 runs on the first innings. The scores were Hairdressers 75, (Biggins 25, Dodgers 20); Grocers 63, (Fraser 34), and 75 for eight wickets. Biggins, Eodgers and Cusack bowled well for tho Hairdressers, and Hallidsy and Grsssoa for the Grocers.
