["Special to Press Association.] SHANGHAI. Oct. 18. Beports have reached here that the rumours as to the rebellion in Hankow are not correct, and the statement that Li Hang Chang had degraded his nephew Sheng, Governor of Tientsin, is denied. The Japanese admit that the story of the departure of the expedition from Hiroshima was bluff. The newspapers express indignation at the exclusion of war correspondents. Oct. 19. It is rumoured that the Chinese on the north bank of the Yalu repulsed an attempt at a night surprise. • SANTIAGO, Oct. 19. The Chilian Government has declined the offer of the Chinese to buy six warships. LONDON, Oct. 19. The j Daily News thinks there is reason to hope that China and Japan will accept the terms of peace suggested by England.
