WAIMAKARIRI-ASHLEY WATER SUPPLY BOARD.

An ordinary meeting of this Board was hold yesterday. All the members were present. Correspondence was received from Mi Buddo regarding the loan of .£3OOO, and from Mr H. D. Bell stating that tho money would be available for tho Board immediately upon the passing of the Trustees Act Amendment Bill. The Board resolved that, as the Bill had now passed both Houses _of Parliament, the Secretary should bo instructed to write to Mr Bell and request him to have tho examination of the Board’s rating power made and the debentures drafted. A telegram was received from Mr Buddo referring to other offero for tho loan. It was resolved—“ That the Board has already arranged to take the money from Mr Bell, and confirms the decision arrived at, and that Mr Buddo be thanked and informed accordingly.” A letter was read from the Colonial Secretary, with reference to gazetting a special order ■ subdividing the district. * Messrs Ollivier and Grierson wrote with reference to debentures sold to Mr John Joyce, of Lyttelton, and a letter was received from Mr Joyce on tho same subject. It was resolved—- “ That Messrs Ollivier and Grierson and Mr Joyce be written to and informed that the Board had accepted a loan of .£3OOO, and that it hopes to be in funds in a few weeks, when -the matter will have immediate attantion in accordance with the terms of Mr Joyce’s latter of May 9 last.” Tho Secretary was instructed to obtain the opinion of the Board’s solicitors on certain matters in connection with tho loan poll to bo taken in the subdivisions of the district.
