THE PREMIER'S TOUR.

[Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, March 29. A deputation of tinsmiths and rangemakers interviewed the Premier to-day regarding a revision of the tariff on certain articles imported in connection with their trades. The Premier stated that the question of revision of the tariff would come before Parliament next session. The Premier has promised that the Rotorua railway will be pushed on immediately after the end of the month, and that the question of the abolition of the quarantine station at Motuihi will be in abeyance till it can bo considered in Cabinet. A deputation from the Parnell Borough Council waited upon the Premier relative to an endowment of the borough known as tho Pnnakitere Block, and asked the Government to continue to pay Is 3d per acre as agreed. The Premier said that the Government had only taken upon itself to act as agents for the Council. The Government had paid the Council doable what it had been receiving, and it was not prepared to go on. He did not believe in the taxpayers of the colony supplementing rents. There was no such thing as a lease of the block between the Government and tbe Council. He was determined not to ratify any transactions which were not legal, and said that it was the fault of the Council if no lease had been executed. The Council cpuld at any time have resumed possession of the land if it suited it to do bo. He was, however, disposed to meet the Council in any equitable manner, with a view to an adjustment of the difficulty. The Premier left for Whakatane tonight.
