COLONEL FOX.

[Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, March 29. A Herald representative waited upon tho Premier with reference to a telegram from Wellington stating that Colonel Fox had asked the Premier to release him from his engagement, but Mr Sadden was unable to throw much additional light upon the matter. He stated that the commandant’s communication was not at all equivalent to sending in hia resignation, but it was a conditional affair. Tho Premier slid that the commandant evidently thought that tho Government did not want him, or, at any rate, did not sufficiently appreciate hia services, and ho appeared to consider that the Government was not inclined to give effect to his recommendations, but preferred that things should remain as they are. Mr Saddou said that he could give no further information or indicate what action tho Government would take until he had consulted bis colUagues.
