STABBING CASE.
[Pee Press Association.! WANGANUI, March 21. A rather serious stabbing case took place la,st night, a man named Stephen, inflicting a wound on Sergeant Villars with a large knife. Attempts were being made by Sergeant Villars aud Constable Maokle to arrest the man for causing a disturbance, and while they were trying to take an axe fiom him ho drew a knife. Sergeant Villars is now in the hospital. The wound is in the stomach. Probably an operation will have to be performed.
