CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, Jan. 3. (Before Messrs R. Beetham, R.M., and R. Westenra, J.P.) Drunkenness. Mary Moxham and Thomas Richards, both of whom had been ■convicted three times for drunkenness in 1893, were each fined 20a and costs, in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. A first offender was fined 5a and costs, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. A Series of Charges. —John G. Borafield was charged with being drunk in a railway carriage coming from the Riccarton racecourse on Jan. 2, with refusing to produce hia ticket when requested to do so by the guard, and with using obscene language in the carriage. He admitted the offences,- and was fined 5s and costa for being drunk, 5s for failing to produce his ticket, and sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour for using obscene language.
